Nizamabad: Community policing has begun in Nizamabad district on Tuesday. As part of it, an awareness meeting was held for auto drivers at Bodhan under the aegis of the police department and local organisations. Superintendent of police S. Chandrasekhar Reddy urged auto drivers to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents. Lack of awareness  about traffic rules and negligence on the part of a few auto drivers are leading to fatal accidents, he said.

Auto drivers from Bodhan, Renjal, Yedapally, Kotagiri and Varni mandals took part in the meeting. Traffic experts Gupta and Srinivas from Karimnagar and Hyderabad suggested ways and tips to curtail and prevent road accidents. Speaking on the occasion deputy transport commissioner G.C. Rajaratnam said the transport department was taking necessary steps to check fitness of the vehicles.
