Kochi: The Ernakulam Government Medical College is likely to take three to four weeks to throw open its four operation theatres, that were closed, after undergoing repairs and epoxy painting.
According to hospital superintendent Dr K G R Mallan, a special committee has been constituted comprising the college principal Dr Praveen Lal, Dr Mallan and RMO Dr Jeevan to supervise the repairs and it has been decided that the operation theatres should be opened only after repairs to ward off further complaints.
The operation theatres that have been closed are ENT, orthopaedics, gynaecology and general surgery. “Though these have been closed, all emergency surgeries are being held without any problem in the remaining operation theatres,” said Dr Mallan.
