KARIMNAGAR: Zilla parishad chairperson Tula Uma said the Union government’s Swacch Bharat was aimed at ensuring a healthy life through cleaner surroundings. She took part in a Swacch Bharat programme held by the district staff at the civil hospital here on Tuesday. Mrs. Uma said thousands of people were contracting viral fevers due to unhygienic surroundings. Cleaner surroundings mean less incidence of diseases, she said.
 
She lauded officials of various departments for actively taking part in the cleanliness drive being in held in rural and urban areas of the district on every Tuesday, as per the directives of the district collector. She urged public representatives, voluntary organisations and public also to take part in the mission.
 
Later, district collector M. Veerabrahmaiah said the mission was being followed in 1,207 villages and 326 wards of nine municipalities and two corporations of Karimnagar district every Tuesday from 6 am to 11 am. All  blocks of the general  hospital in the city would be cleaned in phased manner, she added.
