Vijayawada: The proposed missile testing range to be set up at Gollalamoda village of Nagayalanka mandal in Krishna district is yet to get clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forests. Principal revenue secretary has sent the proposal to the Union ministry for necessary clearance. The distract administration decided to allot 362 acres of land near Gollalamoda village to DRDO to set up the missile testing range.
The revenue officials conducted a survey and decided to pay compensation to remove the encroachments in the land. Later, the revenue officials send the proposal for clearance.
However, the Union ministry rejected the proposals as mangroves are present in a part of the allotted land and their removal would damage the environment. Both the revenue and DRDO officials are waiting for necessary clearance.
