No 'sex talk' during film promotions please!
Rang Rasiya and The Shaukeens actors asked to curb their 'basic instincts'
Mumbai: While the two much-awaited releases of this week have nothing in common, there seems to be an ongoing undercurrent of erotica in both Ketan Mehta’s Rang Rasiya and Abhishek Sharma’s The Shaukeens. The directors are not very pleased about it and have in fact asked their actors to curb their ‘sex talk’ while promoting the film.
A source from the core team of Rang Rasiya says, “Randeep Hooda would constantly speak about the sex and nudity in the film. Somewhere the public’s perception of the film as a ‘bold’ erotic film was getting out of hand. Ketan Mehta had to speak to him personally to curb his tendency to speak of the film’s erotic content.”
The same is true of The Shaukeens which has been branded a ‘sex comedy’ in the public’s mind because of its theme of three aging men being attracted to a beautiful young woman.
“But it’s all very innocent. The three protagonists played by Anupam Kher, Anu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra are not lechers. They are just three over-the-hill guys looking for some excitement in their lives. And their biggest fantasy is to see Lisa Haydon in a bikini. There is nothing lecherous or sleazy about them,” says the source.
The Shaukeens director Abhishek Sharma added wrily, “I haven’t made a Grand Masti.”
