Hyderabad: Two bigwigs from Tollywood industry has locked horns over a financial matter leading to a police case.
Tollywood producer Bellamkonda Suresh approached the Banjara Hills police against Dhenikaina Ready director G. Nageswara Reddy accusing him of cheating and breach of contract. Mr Suresh alleged that the director took more than Rs 25 lakh from him promising to direct a film, but dropped the project.
According to the Banjara Hills police, Nageswara Reddy, who released his new movie Current Theega last week, had not repaid the money so far.
“The complainant alleged that he had given the money in 2011, and reached an agreement that the director would work on one of his projects. However, the project was dropped, and Nageswara Reddy did not pay back the money,” said a police official from Banjara Hills police station.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the director under IPC Section 420 for cheating, and 406 for criminal breach of trust.
Earlier, Suresh, whose Junior NTR-starrer Rabhasa bombed at the box office, had filed a case against film-maker Mohan Babu’s family over another financial dispute. Officials of Manchu Entertainment Ltd. in turn filed a case against the producer on the same issue.
The trouble started with Suresh allegedly refusing to pay the Rs 58 lakh rent for Gandharva Mahal, owned by Lakshmi Manchu, after using it for the shooting of Rabhasa. Suresh had promised to pay the money when the shooting was over, but, he allegedly went back on his word.
