Coimbatore: A notorious rowdy of Chennai, who was released on bail recently, ended his life at his father-in-law’s house in Coimbatore on Tuesday.
The Podanur police said Muthuvel (35) son of Pichandy from Alaiamman Kovil street in Teynampet, was arrested for a string of robberies, murder and other thefts in Mylapore, Pulianthope and lodged in Puzhal prison in Chennai.
He was also detained under the Goondas Act twice in Chennai, said police. Nine years ago, he got married to Suguna (27) and was living in Teynampet in Chennai.
After Muthuvel was arrested by the Chennai police, a few months ago, Suguna, along with her children, moved to Coimbatore and rented out a house near her sister Jaya’s house on Madukarai Road, Srinvasa Nagar, in Sundarapuram.
Muthuvel, who was released on bail, came to Coimbatore on Tuesday and met his wife Suguna at Sundarapuram. Both of them had a quarrel. A depressed Muthuvel hanged himself at the house in Sundarapuram when his wife and children had gone out.
