No more a fantasy: India’s first Disneyland to be built in Vizag
Disneyland would need 2,000 acres of land from AP to build the theme park
Mumbai: India’s first Disneyland is likely to come up in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, according to sources. Disneyland and Universal Studios are one of the biggest tourism attractions of the world and have chosen Vizag for venturing into the Indian theme parks industry
The project is still in the proposal stage and aims to reposition cyclone hit-Vizag as the country’s tourism capital.
The project is also garnering attention because of the huge investments that would come knocking on Andhra Pradesh’s door, after the go-ahead.
Disneyland would need approximately 2,000 acres of land to build the theme park. However, the state government led by Chandrababu Naidu is yet to finalise the deal.
Interestingly, during his previous tenure as CM, it was Naidu who encouraged foreign investment in the state and opened floodgates for global IT companies, including Microsoft to strengthen their operations in Hyderabad.
