Opposition calls Telangana budget ‘visionless’
BJP leader Dr K Laxman said the Budget was more like an “old wine in new bottle”
Hyderabad: Opposition parties said the TRS government’s first Budget was “visionless, uninspiring and fails to fulfil aspirations of people.”
“The Budget doesn’t inspire people. We are highly disappointed. Farmers are worried over crop loans and there is a spurt in farmer suicides due to the crisis,” said Mr K. Jana Reddy, leader of the Congress Legislature Party.
Former PCC chief D. Srinivas said, “Government has forgotten the Telangana martyrs.”
BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman said the Budget was more like an “old wine in new bottle”. It was contrary to the TRS’ electoral promises and that the government had failed to spell out steps to curb farmers’ suicides, power cuts and drought.
“Though the government came out with one lakh crore budget, it did not reveal how it will mop up resources,” he said.
Telugu Desam MLAs E. Dayakar Rao, A. Revanth Reddy and R. Krishnaiah alleged that a major share of the Budget was allocated to the portfolios held by IT and Panchayat Raj minister K.T. Rama Rao and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao.
“It focused more in areas where it will get commission. It is trying to cheat all sections of people and has no vision,” Mr Revanth Reddy said.
