KJ George: I play straight, won’t meddle in probe
Neither my colleagues nor I will interfere in the investigation: George
Bengaluru: In an attempt to scotch speculation that the state government was trying to shield an accused in the case of the 14 year-old girl, who died under odd circumstances, home minister K. J. George said on Thursday that an honest officer, P. B. Mohanty, has been asked to lead the team of officers of CID to get to the bottom of truth about the girl’s death.
The minister told Deccan Chronicle that from day one, leaders of BJP were trying to give a communal tinge to this case, leading to tension in Tirthahalli. “Neither my colleagues nor I will interfere in the investigation.
One of the honest officers, Mr P.B. Mohanty, has been appointed the head of the team which is investigating the case. If any of our officers is trying to botch up investigation, please give us information, we will take action against them. We want the investigation to be free and fair,” he added.
Mr. George’s comments come in the wake of speculation that one of the accused in the case was related to a businessman known for his links with Congress leaders in Shivamogga district, and therefore, the police are on a mission to botch up probe.
