177 exotic flowers to be showcased in expo

The international Horti Intex 2014, organised jointly by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), department of horticulture and Coddissia, will exhibit the horticultural wealth of India with a focus on latest techniques developed in horticulture
Coimbatore: A wide range of flowers including 177 exotic flowers from different countries will be showcased at the three day horticulture exhibition at the Coddisia trade fair complex in Coimbatore from Friday (November 7). The international Horti Intex 2014, organised jointly by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), department of horticulture and Coddissia, will exhibit the horticultural wealth of India with a focus on latest techniques developed in horticulture crops. 
 
The expo includes flower show that has different kinds of orchids, varied flower arrangements, fruit show, vegetable show, spices and plantation crops. A human model put up at the expo will depict the medicinal herbs relevant to the functioning of human body. Horticultural industries, nurseries, seed companies, manufacturers of horticultural equipments, commodity boards, ICAR institutes and TNAU research stations have put up stalls at the expo.
 
At the expo, farmers, stakeholders and scientists will deliberate on various issues like production technologies and marketing of the horticultural produces. Farmers from various states will participate in the interactive meet on green house cultivation, high yield varieties/hybrids for increasing productivity, integrated pest and disease management.
