Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation issues fiat on fire safety
The government has allocated Rs 25 crore for Haritha Haram
Hyderabad: Building owners who fail to register with GHMC regarding fire safety measures would have to face consequences. Owners must visit the GHMC website and register before November 21, failing which stern action will be initiated.
Of the 20,164 buildings been identified in the GHMC area only 1,800 have been issued NOC, that is just 10 per cent.
The GHMC has asked all owners of hospitals, schools, function halls, timber depots, hotels and restaurants, malls and multiplexes to register their buildings on its website and to seek NOC.
If this is not done the occupancy certificate or trade license of the building will be cancelled.
The government has allocated Rs 25 crore for Haritha Haram. The GHMC will take up two graveyards in each circle for development and 36 graveyards in the GHMC area will be beautified.
Two lakes from each circle will be taken up under the modern lake development programme.
The GHMC is aiming to raise a 1,000 km green curtain as part of Haritha Haram. Apart from this around 250 km of main and inner roads will be taken up for black topping and re-carpeting.
The sweeping wing of the health and sanitation department will be provided with mechanical sweeping machines.
At present the GHMC owns 24 sweeping machines. The number will be increased to 34 soon.
