Chennai: Following the bomb threat to the atomic power plant at Kalpakkam on Thursday, the city police were kept busy on Friday with bomb threats to a private school at Royapettah and CBI office at Shastri Bhavan in Nungambakkam.
The police said the private school at Royapettah received a threat letter, which created panic. Sources said the letter addressed to the school principal demanded that a student of the school be provided government aid. The letter claimed that a bomb has been planted in the school premises and would explode next week on any day between November 12 and November 14.
The police were informed and the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) were immediately pressed into service. After entirely searching the campus, the call was declared a hoax. The sender’s address had a name of a school in Madhavaram, but there was no such school in the locality, the police said.
The Royapettah police are investigating. Similarly, there were alleged bomb threats to the CBI office at Shastri Bhavan in Nungambakkam, but police maintained that no such calls were received.
On Thursday, the Kancheepuram police and CISF officials were kept busy following bomb threats to the Madras Atomic Power Station there. In that case too, the miscreant had sent a letter following which security was heightened.
