Jawhar Sicrar criticised the Union I&B ministry on inadequate use of social media
New DelhiWith Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself leading the way on the social media, Prasar Bharati chief executive officer Jawhar Sicrar has criticised the Union information and broadcasting ministry on inadequate use of social media.

Despite the PM’s directive asking ministries to connect with the masses through the social media, the I&B ministry being its nodal agency, the Prasar Bharati CEO claimed that only about five percent of the officials  including himself, were using this method of newage communication.

In a reply sought on usage of the social media by officials of the national broadcasters, Mr Sircar tweeted, “I do+ 5% seniors in PB, AIR & DD. Not seen any from ministry: only orders.” Mr Sircar’s comments assume significance as the BJP-led government has prided itself on its utilisation of social media.
