Mob torches CRPF gypsy after two Srinagar residents die in road accident
Meanwhile two CRPF jawans were injured when militants fired at a patrolling party
Srinagar: An irate mob on Saturday evening torched a CRPF vehicle after it allegedly crushed two Srinagar residents including a 10-year-old boy to death along the Boulevard overlooking Dal lake here.
Police confirmed the incident but said that a private Swift car was also involved in the mishap and that the drivers of both the vehicles have been arrested after an FIR was lodged at the concerned police station. It said one of the deceased, identified as Muhammad Ashraf Hafiz, was riding a motorcycle whereas the other victim Nadeem Ahmed Chapri was a pedestrian.
However, the people who claimed to be witness to the accident blamed the accident on "rash driving" by the driver of CRPF gypsy. Soon they and others who rushed to the scene while chanting slogans against CRPF set its vehicle to fire. Police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the crowd, witnesses said.
