MIM comes to TRS’ rescue in Assembly
TD wants to enact a tamasha in the House, says Akbar
Hyderabad: The MIM on Friday came to the rescue of the ruling TRS government in the Legislative Assembly. When the entire Opposition came together to corner the government on farmers’ suicides and power crisis, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi came in support of the TRS government stating that the agitation by Opposition parties was only a drama and a tamasha.
He said if the Opposition parties were really serious on these issues, they would have enabled Question Hour. Floor leaders of the Congress, the TD and the BJP K. Jana Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao and K. Laxman launched scathing attack on the TRS government over its failure to address the issues of farmers’ suicides and power crisis.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao and finance minister Etela Rajender tried to counter them with their forceful arguments, but at one stage the ruling party was completely pushed into a defensive mode with everyone watching the Opposition onslaught helplessly. At this stage, Mr Owaisi took the lead and slammed the entire Opposition in his inimitable style bringing a sigh of relief to the ruling party.
Pointing at the Opposition members, Mr Owaisi said, “Your protest at the podium is nothing but a drama and a tamasha. On one hand you demand debate on farmers’ suicide and power crisis and on the other you stall the important Question Hour, in which there are two questions over these issues. Had you allowed the Question Hour, you would have got the chance to bring these issues to the notice of the government and to get a reply from it. But it seems you are not interested or concerned about these issues.
His comments put the Opposition members in a tight spot while receiving applause from the treasury benches.
The Chief Minister, ministers and the TRS MLAs were seen applauding Mr Owaisi by thumping the benches.
