Ileana D'Cruz tweeted this photo with Christian Louboutin

“So last month I got to do a photoshoot with my friend, the lovely #ChristianLouboutin for @ELLEINDIA. So happy to finally share it with you!” tweeted Ileana to her 339k followers on social media. While the issue hit the stands earlier this month, the actress still chose to share the same photos with her fans online. Sania Mirza, on the other hand, shared a photo from her Disney shoot.

Be it the “typical pouty selfie” post by actress Ileana or the “pink phone from the man of my dreams” that Shruti Haasan wrote about, there’s no doubt that social media is more than just keeping in touch with dear and near ones it’s self promotion at its finest and in the most convenient way. It’s no surprise that a lot of the posts by celebs have   less to do with their profession than what makes them more happening.

“Social media helps connect to the outer world and millions of fans, which one probably won’t be able to connect with,” explains Sania Mirza, adding, “The biggest advantage is that it gives us direct access to put across   what we really feel and think about that particular thing.”

The perfect example of this “direct access” to   fans would be when a movie is being promoted even before it has released. “This isn’t just about them staying connected with their fans, but the fans staying connected with their interests through social media,” says fashion stylist and entrepreneur Pernia Qureshi, who has 24.3k followers on Twitter.

Actress Sanjjanaa  says,”It’s not just a platform where a celeb talks about what colour sari they are wearing or what their movie is all about but there is so much more to it.”

With concern for privacy no longer an issue; it’s time to embrace the social media for what it really is a ticket to get rich and famous with  the right click and update.
