WhatsApp will be free for life in India

A few years back, WhatsApp was introduced to the world, and before anyone knew, it took over the short message services of telecom operators, and soon became the most popular online messaging app. WhatsApp Messenger is available for free download, however, it usually charges an annual subscription of $1 at the end of a year of its usage. And that $1 is what most of the people dread!

But, there’s good news! Speaking at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Vice President of WhatsApp, Neeraj Arora, announced that WhatsApp will continue to be free for Indian users. The main reason, said Neeraj Arora, is the low debit and credit card penetration.
The user base of WhatsApp in India has grown to 70 million active users, which is over a 10th of its global users.
