Hyderabad: Surender Reddy, director of Kick 2, has denied rumours that his lead actress Rakul Preet is being replaced.
Rakul Preet is currently one of Tollywood’s most successful actresses with three consecutive hits, Venkatadri Express, Loukyam and the recent Current Theega. Another film, Rough, opposite Aadi is ready to hit the screens in December. She is also currently working on two big projects, Kick 2 opposite Ravi Teja, and Pandaga Chesuko opposite actor Ram.
There were, however, recent rumours about the actress being replaced in Kick 2 after shooting for a week as the director felt that the 24-year-old Rakul looked too young opposite the 50-plus Ravi Teja.
Denying the rumour, director Surender Reddy says, “She has already completed the first schedule and will report for the second one in a few days. We’ve already shot scenes with her, Brahma-nandam and other actors. Rakul Preet is the female lead in my film.”
The director adds that perhaps the rumours emerged during the recent strike in T-town when the film’s shooting was stopped and the actress had given her dates for a Hindi film. “After the strike she couldn’t come back immediately as she was shooting her Hindi film. Now she has adjusted her dates and is coming for the second schedule,” Surender Reddy says.
Rakul Preet, too, dismissed the rumour, saying, “It’s just a rumour. I don’t know where it came from.”
