Tamil Nadu committed to 152-ft Periyar water storage

CM O. Panneerselvam clarified that the state was taking all measures to raise the water level

O Panneerselvam said that raising the water level of the dam to 152 feet could happen only after further strengthening measures suggested by the Empowered Committee were completed
Chennai: Refuting claims made by M. Karunanidhi that the present government was squandering an opportunity to raise the water level in Mullaiperiyar dam to 142 ft by discharging excess water from the dam, Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Sunday clarified that the state was taking all measures possible to raise the water level in the dam to 142 feet, and later to 152 feet after taking dam strengthening measures.
 
Pointing out that the water level had already increased above 136 feet a few days ago, O Panneerselvam said that raising the water level of the dam to 152 feet could happen only after further strengthening measures suggested by the Empowered Committee were completed.
