Free: Microsoft puts Office on iPads, Android next

Microsoft gives away Office for iPads and is testing Android tablets for next phase

Update: 2014-11-11 19:33 GMT

Microsoft Office, one of the largest used documentation software on desktop PCs and laptops, has been made available for Apple iPads.

Microsoft has also announced that it will be offering Office for free to all iPad users and is presently testing the tablet version for Android too.

However, Office will not be completely free for use—there is a slight catch here. Office with basic editing options will be free for use and you will need the Office 365 subscription for tapping the advanced options. Business users will be the only one who will need these options, so home users and casual documents can be created or edited for free.

The testing for the Android tablet version is underway and the Office for Android tablets will also be announced for free, shortly. The software includes standard Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and will be released early next year.

Microsoft is accepting requests for a preview version for Android tablets. If you are interested, you can register yourself by clicking on this link and Microsoft will reply to your requests for a preview download.
