Kerala HC seeks Vigilance update on Bargate

High Court has asked progress report on the preliminary investigation

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has asked the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to submit the progress report on the preliminary investigation undertaken by it in the bargate case.
 
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A.M. Shafique issued the directive on Tuesday while hearing a petition submitted by Mr E.S. Sunil Kumar MLA. 
 
He wanted the court to give a direction that a probe should be undertaken after registering a case on the basis of a proper FIR on allegations levelled by Biju Ramesh that '1 crore was paid to Finance Minister K.M. Mani as bribe. Raju, a native of Thiruvananthapurm, also submitted a similar petition and the court considered both petitions together and issued the directive. 
 
The court  asked the VCB to submit a report in this regard within seven days. The court also sought the view of the state and posted the next hearing of the case after one week.
