Vijayawada: AP irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswar Rao said that  Guntur and Krishna both will come in the capital region.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the minister said that the capital development authority would be established under the supervision of Chief Minister N.  Chandrababu Naidu.

The two districts would come under the authority and the developments would also be expanded automatically for Krishna district too.

Two new bridges would be constructed at Soorayapalem and Gollapudi. The distance from the capital city would be only 10 minutes, he added.

Reacting on Congress leader Devineni Nehru’s comments that the capital will be confined to Guntur district only, the minister said that the Congress leaders were making plans to damage the government’s image.

“The government has selected the capital location after considering all the factors for an over-all development of the state. Vijayawada and Guntur state will become smart cities,” he added.

He said that the AP government will construct a world-class capital with international standards. A global-standard port will also come up at Machilipatnam, he said.
