Don’t get fooled by hoax messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is being upgraded with new features from time to time. It has recently added 'blue ticks' to its messaging app that can track down the ‘read’ messages sent to your WhatsApp contact. This feature actually forces you to reply back to every message.

With the introduction of this new feature, several messages are being circulated all over WhatsApp stating that WhatsApp may no more be free. This has created a panic among several users.

We want to inform our readers that these are hoax messages. WhatsApp hasn’t made any official announcement of charging you for sending/receiving WhatsApp messages. ‘WhatsApp will continue to be free for Indian users’, stated Neeraj Arora, Vice President of WhatsApp.

Messages like re-installing WhatsApp will be charged Rs 299 is being sent via WhatsApp. You may also receive messages on WhatsApp that warn you about your WhatsApp account being deleted if you don't forward it to 10 people. Don't believe it, this is a hoax.

 

At present, there are around 70 million WhatsApp users in India.
