Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman, Satyaveni, died near the Oliphant Bridge after she was washed away in an overflowing nala at the Secunderabad Uppal bus stop on Wednesday evening. Satyaveni’s brother immediately jumped into the nala to save her, but in vain.

Officials of the GHMC, fire department and the police launched a rescue operation immediately. After struggling in the heavy rains and the overflowing nala, her body was finally retrieved.

Satyaveni, a resident of Shameerpet, was walking towards the bus stop when she fell into the drain that she had not noticed.
