Hyderabad: MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday said the financial situation of the state is even worse than the power crisis. He also expressed concern over the mounting public debt and said the government should disclose all the details in front of public.
Mr Owaisi also asked the government to reclaim the Wakf property in Saudi Arabia, worth billions of dollars, apart from the properties of Nizam in the neighbouring states. “Compensation should be sought from multinationals like Microsoft and Wipro as these are located on Wakf land,” he said.
Speaking during the discussion on Budget on Wednesday, Mr Owaisi said the Telangana government is the custodian of Wakf properties in Maharashtra, Karnataka and even in Saudi Arabia, adjacent to the shrine of Mecca, which offers accommodation to the Haj pilgrims.
“Telangana government is the custodian of these properties. The government should write to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the ministry of external Affairs and stake claim over Wakf properties there, worth billions,” Mr Owaisi said.
He suggested that the state government should constitute a panel to look into the issue, adding that doing so would help Haj pilgrims with free accommodation.
