New Delhi: Youness Bengelloun struck twice as FC Goa sent Delhi Dynamos to the bottom of the points table with a 4-1 victory in their Indian Super League encounter here on Thursday.

The French defender scored in the 18th and 48th minutes to put his team 2-0 up in the bottom of the table clash before Robert Pires (53rd) and Tolgay Ozbey (60th) came to the party to hand Goa their second victory of the tournament. Brazilian midfielder Gustavo Dos Santos (73rd) converted a penalty to hand Delhi a consolation goal.

With this win, Goa climbed one spot to the seventh place with eight points from an equal number of matches. Delhi, on the other hand, saw their insipid campaign go from bad to worse. They remain on seven points after suffering their fifth defeat.

Although both started out in a cautious manner, it were the visitors who came up with the early attempts on goal while Delhi saw most of their build-ups fizzle out around the Goa penalty area. The hosts, who left Alessandro del Piero on the bench, hardly seemed capable of scoring. Hans Mulder, who wore the captain’s armband, was their lone bright spark in midfield.

Goa striker Tolgay Ozbey got the first real chance of the game when his attempt was met with a fine save by Delhi custodian Kristof van Hout. But the visitors soon took the lead when Bengelloun pounced on a rebound from Peter Carvalho’s shot to score.
