Telangana govt to bring new land acquisition policy soon: Deputy CM Mahmood Ali
TRS govt constituted a Group of Ministers to finalise rules and regulations
Hyderabad: Telangana government will soon introduce a new comprehensive land acquisition policy in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali announced here on Saturday.
Replying to a question raised by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) members in the Legislative Assembly, the deputy CM, who also holds the charge of Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, said the draft rules related to the "Telangana State Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2014" were published on November 13.
"We have invited objections and suggestions from the persons likely to be affected and given 15 days time. After expiry of the above stipulated period, and taking the objections and suggestions into consideration, the final notification will be issued and all land acquisition proceedings will be taken up as per the Land Acquisition Act, 2013," Mahmood Ali told TRS members Koppula Eshwar, Somarapu Satyanarayana and others during the Question Hour. Soon after assuming power in the new state, the TRS government constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM), headed by the Deputy CM (Revenue), to finalise rules and regulations governing land acquisition for public purposes.
The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 empowers the state governments to make relevant rules and accordingly the GoM finalised the draft rules for Telangana.
The draft rules were notified on November 13 vide an order issued by Principal Secretary (Revenue) B R Meena.
