Leaked pictures of Xiaomi Mi 5 show edgeless design
Leaked pictures of Xiaomi’s next flagship, the Mi 5, will be premium priced
Xiaomi has been making some pretty good Android smartphones, which sport high-end hardware, for a decent price.
However, the pricing trend could change if the information we see here is true.
According to a report on Digital Trends, the next flagship smartphone from Xiaomi, the Mi 5, seems to sport a high-end hardware, encased in a premium metal shell and featuring an edgeless design.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is said to be taking on the flagship devices of rivals such as the iPhone 6, Galaxy Note 4 and LG’s G3 in terms of price, features and design.
The premium design is estimated to be priced in a high bracket, which could end the era of Xiaomi’s bargain prices.
The device picture, which was leaked out by Weibo, highlights a very thin bezel and no control buttons (Home, Back, Menu) as compared to the older models.
The report reveals rumoured specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5, which includes a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, a Snapdragon 805 chipset with 3GB of RAM.
Since the previous flagship, the Mi 4, was launched in July 2014, it is assumed that the Mi 5 will be launched around the same time in 2015. However, a few online media reports state that the Mi 5 could be seen as early as end of 2014 itself.
Sadly, Xiaomi has not yet introduced the Mi 4 as yet to the Indian market. The Xiaomi Mi 4 is expected to make its debut in India in early 2015. There could be a higher chance that Xiaomi could release the Mi 5 earlier and launch the two devices in India at the same time. This would give Xiaomi fans two choices of smartphones to opt from—a high-end Mi 4 at a mainstream level and the Mi 5 at a premium price.
