Coimbatore: A 39-year-old farm labourer was arrested for molesting his own daughter in a drunken state in their house at Theethipalayam in Thondamuthur. According to Perur all women’s police station (AWPS), Natarajan, his wife Malliakkal and their 13-year-old daughter live in a rented house at Theethipalayam.
His teenaged daughter studies in class 9 in a government school in the same locality. On Thursday night, when the girl’s mother had gone to Trichy for a function, Natarajan came home drunk and sexually abused his daughter.
The girl managed to escape and informed her mother on Friday afternoon. The girl’s mother took her to the Perur all women’s police station and lodged a complaint. A medical examination was performed.
Following this, the police registered a case under sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the girl’s father. He has been remanded in custody and lodged in the Coimbatore central prison.
