Birds of hampi, a treat for bird watchers
The books give all details of the birds
Ballari: Hampi is not only the cradle of the Vijaynagar empire of old, but also an ecological treasure with its rocky hills and its scrub jungle providing the perfect setting for birds and wildlife.
And now some of its natural attractions of the winged kind have been captured in a book, Birds of Hampi, authored by Mr Samad Kottur and published by INTACH, Hampi Anegundi chapter.
The result of over a decade’s observation of birds and documentation, the books give all details of the birds with the places they can sighted to help bird watchers.
Reflecting on the ecological wealth of the world heritage site at a recent function to launch the book, Ms Shama Pawar of INTACH said it was time to document it. Publishing Birds of Hampi, was a beginning, she added.
