BMTC, KSRTC fare reduction next week
The department is planning to ensure that even private players reduce their fares
Bengaluru: State-run BMTC and KSRTC are expected to cut ticket fares next week following steep reduction in diesel prices.
According to sources, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has asked all state transport corporations, including Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, to prepare a revised fare chart by next weekend following reports that state-run oil companies are expected to cut diesel prices further next week.
“There is a lot of pressure on the state-run transport corporations to slash ticket prices after the reduction in diesel prices.
With indications that diesel prices are expected to come down further next week, it has been decided to cut the ticket fares,” the sources said.
The department is planning to ensure that even private players reduce their fares.
“We will issue orders to all private operators to reduce fares after KSRTC and BMTC cuts the fares,” the source further said.
