Bengaluru: He is  a rare breed of politician. When even ordinary  people believe in big weddings today, social welfare minister, H. Anjaneya will see his daughter married in a mass marriage programme in Holakere taluk, Chitradurga district on November 19.

The minister, who is  a strong advocate of simple weddings, is clearly out to set an example by letting his daughter, A.V. Anupama tie the knot with her fiance, S Shaswath not in some ostentatious  wedding but at the Srikotra Nanjappa College grounds in the taluk long with  97 other couples.

The invitation to the wedding is as simple as the ceremony itself. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, the minister said “Whenever I was invited to a wedding,

I would always advise people to shun ostention and grand arrangements which they could not afford and needed to take loans for.  So now I have decided to get my daughter married in a simple  mass marriage ceremony,” he explained, hoping  this would encourage others to follow suit.

The minister said his soon to  be son-in law, Shashwath was an MBA and  worked in an MNC in Bengaluru.
