Sonia, Rahul to visit Karnataka in December
The party would shortly launch a state-wide campaign
TUMAKURU: Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi will tour Karnataka in order to strengthen the party ahead of the forthcoming elections to zilla and taluk panchayats, KPCC president Dr. G. Parameshwar, announced here on Saturday.
He told mediapersons that their visit would be a shot in the arm for the ruling Congress at a time when the party was getting a good response for schemes launched by the state government.
The party would shortly launch a state-wide campaign to create awareness about programmes implemented by the previous UPA government across the country and the state government, he added.
Dr. Parameshwar said the much-delayed appointment of chairpersons for state-owned boards and corporations would be completed by the end of the month as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and himself are scheduled to meet Mrs. Gandhi and other senior central leaders of the party on November 20.
Besides, the issue of internal elections in the state unit of Congress would figure in the discussions, he added.
