Hyderabad: Telangana government has agreed to provide land worth nearly Rs 37 crore, free of cost, and even bear 50 per cent of expenditure of Rs 787 crore for laying the new 121-km broad guage railway line between Makthal and Vikarabad via Parigi.
This railway line will cover the halting stations such as Naskal, Pargi, Doma and Dadapur of the Pargi Assembly constituency. It will benefit the people of Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar, districts besides those travelling between Karnataka and Telangana.
Parigi MLA and CLP secretary Dr T. Ram Mohan Reddy, who raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, brought to the notice of the government that though the land and cost-sharing was approved by the then Kiran Kumar Reddy government, the GO was put on hold due to election code during the 2014 general elections. Subsequently, the draft GO was referred to the Governor during President’s Rule. He approved it and asked the government to issue a GO after the new Telangana government took over.
Mr Reddy said, "Since the new TS government has been formed, it should take measures to release the GO at the earliest to facilitate the new railway line for the benefit of common people."
Legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao responded, “The government has no objection to provide land and share 50 per cent expenditure to lay the new railway line and a GO in this regard will be issued very soon.”
