Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday directed officials to expedite the water grid project works to provide tap water to each and every household in the state. 
He asked them to begin water grid works, spread over 75,000 km, by January 2015.
 
Mr Rao has decided to lay the foundation for the project in Nalgonda district in December. People in Nalgonda have been facing hardships due to the fluoride problem since a very long time. 
Mr Rao reviewed the progress of water grid project at the Secretariat with senior officials. Ministers T. Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao were also present during the meeting.
 
The Telangana government has decided to spend Rs 25,000 crore on the project to provide safe drinking water to every household within five years. It has planned to build 24 grids in 10 districts for the purpose.
 
Mr Rao asked officials to set up the Water Grid Development Corpora-tion of Telangana within a week for the speedy execution of the project.
