Minister to work for ending Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh row

HyderabadUnion minister of state for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya offered to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to sort out the power and other issues with Andhra Pradesh.
 
He also promised the Centre’s support to the TRS government in development of the new state, Hyderabad as an international and smart city, slum less Hyderabad, cleaning of Hussainsagar Lake, revival of tanks besides getting other projects
.
 
He announced his first gift to Secunderabad constituency, a Rs 435 crore medical college attached to ESI hospital at Sanathnagar.
 
“Telangana is facing power problems. There is a problem in sharing river water. I will speak to the PM and arrange a meeting between the PM and the CM to sort out issues with AP. I will also take up the river water issue with the Union water resources minister Uma Bharati,” he said.
 
Recalling his childhood in Hyderabad, he said his forefathers used to drink water from Hussainsagar and asked the government to ensure that the water is potable again.
 
Mr Dattatreya was given a civic reception on being appointed the first Union minister from Telangana in the Union government here on Saturday. Assuring that he would be available to people 24 hours and act as a catalyst between the Centre and the state, he said for some strange reason the Union labour portfolio seems to have a deep link with Telangana.
 
“I am very happy that KCR garu is the first Chief Minister and I the first Union Minister from the new Telangana state. The first Union Labour Minister from here was T. Anjaiah followed by G. Venkatswamy and KCR garu. “I will protect the rights of workers and ensure that factories and organisations implement labour laws strictly,” he added.
 
Stating former Sikkim Governor V. Rama Rao was his political guru, he said but for his support he would not have joined politics and risen to this level.
 
The CM heaped praises on soft spoken Bandaru Dattatreya and described him as ‘Bangaru’ (Golden) Dattatreya. He is not Bandaru Dattatreya but Bangaru Dattareya. He is soft spoken, a good hearted man and now the ambassador and voice of four crore Telangana people at the Centre. 
 
“The neighouring state is creating problems for our state. Earlier we had no voice at the Centre, but now we have one in Dattanna,” he said. In a lighter vein, the CM advised Dattatreya to continue his ‘Alai Balai’ annual programme wherein Telanganaities irrespective of political affiliation are brought on one platform and served Telangana delicacies including Ambali.
