Rajya Sabha MP also urged parents to give equal importance to girl children

Nellore: During Sachin’s visit to his adopted village, the master blaster unveiled a pylon to mark the laying of foundation stones for development schemes such as a community centre, toilets, roads and facelift to the village tank at an estimated cost of Rs 2.79 crore from his MP Local Area Development  funds.

He also released fish seeds in the village pond as part of a programme to generate revenue for village development works.

The ace cricketer, who also worshipped a cow during a visit to a house, was all praise for one  Kokolu Vijayamma for renovating her house and constructing a compound wall besides a toilet in view of Sachin’s visit.

He also told her son  Mahesh, an MBA, to provide financial assistance for the education of any one person in the village, when the youth said that his uncle had financed his higher studies.

He appealed to the villagers for their cooperation to set an example to make it a model village for the country.

He also visited the house of an ST family and appreciated their construction of a toilet and underlined the need to maintain it properly.

When asked why he chose this remote AP village, Sachin only said that he was an Indian. He said that he had come to know about the village from joint collector G. Rekha Rani while flying to the US a while back.

The Rajya Sabha MP also urged parents to give equal importance to girl children. Former cricketer Chamundeswari Nadh, AP urban development minister Dr P. Narayana, collector N. Srikant, joint collector G. Rekha Rani and Gudur legislator Pasam Suneel Kumar were present with Sachin.
