TNCC president confident Congress will form government in 2016
Elangovan blamed BJP for hijacking UPA ideas
Erode: Claiming that the people of Tamil Nadu are with Congress, TNCC president E V K S Elangovan on Monday exuded confidence that the party would come to power after the 2016 assembly elections.
Speaking at a function got up in connection with the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Jawaharlal Nehru, he said people are now reposing their faith on Congress as they had realized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election eve promises were false.
This was proved by the fact that all schemes announced by the BJP as being rolled out by them were actually formulated and introduced by the previous UPA government, he said.
Elangovan urged Congress workers to go to villages and propagate the policies and programmes of the party and also their 'achievements' for the development of India.
He also urged District in charge office bearers to enrol as many new members for the party as possible. Without naming any leader, he said people would teach a lesson to those who sought to create 'injustice' in Congress.
