Bauchi: A female suicide bomber set off an explosion in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday Azare killing 13 people and injuring 65, police said.

The bomber struck on Sunday at the market in Azare, about 200 kilometers (125 miles)south of Bauchi, said Mohammed Haruna, police public relations officer in Bauchi.

The bombing is the latest of a series in northeastern Nigeria by Islamic extremists who have also seized several towns and cities and have kidnapped hundreds, including more than 200 schoolgirls.
