Hyderabad: Shouting slogans of “go back to Mumbai….we want justice,” a group of people agitating against superstar Salman Khan in connection with a case registered in the city last year, tried to march from Mughalpura to Falaknuma on Monday. Salman’s sister Arpita’s  marriage ceremony is scheduled at the Falaknuma Palace over the next few days.

The Mughalpura police, however, took quick action and apprehended the protesters before they could set out.
Inspector Yellappa says, “About 15 agitators were set to march up to the Falaknuma Police station where a complaint against Salman has been registered for hurting the sentiments of Muslims… Allah was mentioned on the dress of a model walking the ramp... The agitators demanded justice in the case, which was registered in the Falaknuma police station.

“We have arrested about five of the agitators out of the 15,” he added.
A social worker on Thursday had urged the police to arrest Salman, who is facing two criminal cases in the jurisdiction of the Banjara Hills and Falak-numa police stations.

Addressing a press conference, Md. Fasiuddin Ayan had said that a case had been registered against the actor by the Falaknuma Police over remarks he had made, hurting the sentiments of Muslims, in a TV show a year ago.

“The case was registered following a direction given by a local court. Still no action has been taken by police in this one year,” he said. He demanded that the actor be arrested when he arrived in Hyderabad to attend the marriage of his sister.

When Salman’s father Salim Khan was contacted over the issue, he said, “I am just boarding the flight to Hyderabad for my daughter’s wedding reception... All I can is say that I am the happiest father today. I am not aware of any agitation at all. We are all in a celebratory mood."

The original complaint:

The issue that the group was agitating over is about a complaint that had been registered against Salman for “insulting” Muslims during a Being Human fashion show. A video showed a model walking the ramp at the show with “Allah” written in Arabic prominently at the bottom of her gown.

It is unclear when and where the event took place or what the intention of the organisers or the designer was, but as the clip did the rounds of social media, there had been a big backlash from the Muslim community.

An intimate Mehendi:

The bride, Arpita Khan, landed in the city at 11.30 am on Monday accompanied by her cousins and friends. The entourage then proceeded to a star hotel in the heart of the city where the Mehendi function was slated to take place. Sources reveal that Monday’s event is to be a very close-knit gathering, and only 10-15 city guests were invited.

One small disappointment, however, was that Arpita could not get Mickey Contractor to do her make up. Daniel Bauer, who has worked with the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone, was then approached. Daniel even posted on Facebook on Monday, “Hyderabad bound for Arpita and Aayush’s wedding”.
