Visakhapatnam: Sixty artists from the city, including about 35 students from Andhra University’s fine arts department worked under one roof at the art camp which was organised near RK Beach by APTDC from November 16-17.

The art camp was part of the festivities organised by APTDC under “Rejuvenating Vizag” theme and was a first of its kind of initiative in Vizag, as till now art camps or exhibitions never held outdoors at the Beach Road.

A white tent erected near Kali Mata temple on Beach Road is where the entire action unfolded for two days as the artists, completely engrossed in their work, let their brushes do all the talking. An art exhibition of their artworks was inaugurated at the same venue by Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday and it will be on till Tuesday.

APTDC’s initiative to organise the art camp was welcomed by all artists, especially students of AU who found it to be a very good learning exercise to work alongside with some experienced artists from Vizag. T. Rajasekhar, a final year student from the AU, said, “RK Beach is just a perfect location as having an art exhibition here attracts more visitors than any other indoor location. Such a location exposes art to a larger number of people.”

A beautiful painting by K. Pradeep Kumar, one of the students from AU, grabs the eyeballs. Kumar said, “I expressed my personal experience of how I just ate bananas on the cyclone hit day as all the hotels were shut, my plans of going hometown got cancelled.”
