Kakinada: East Godavari District Congress Committee (DCC) president Kandula Durgesh lashed out at the Chief Minister, N.  Chandrababu  Naidu, for his promises to farmers in the matter of land pooling for constructing capital.

Mr Durgesh assumed  office on Monday as DCC president at Kala Venkata Rao Bhavan, the Congress office, here. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Mr Chandrababu Naidu had proved himself again as the ‘enemy of farmers’.

He said that the farmers of Guntur and Krishna   districts can’t believe Mr Naidu’s promises on land pooling. “Mr Naidu promised complete loan waiver for agriculture debts without any conditions before elections. He also promised the   farmers who are the victims of Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ)   that the land would be given back to them, if he comes to power. He stated that the lands have been purchased illegally by KSEZ. But, after coming to power, Mr Naidu changed his tune and imposed several conditions for loan waiver and is deceiving KSEZ farmers without giving back their lands,” said Mr Durgesh.

He said that in these circumstances, how the farmers of Guntur and Krishna   districts can believe Mr Naidu and TD leaders on land acquisition issue. The DCC chief said that Mr Naidu would not do justice to the   farmers and to the society as he thinks of industries but, not farmers.

The district Congress president commented that the CM was backtracking from his promises and losing his credibility. He said that a movement would be launched from Tuni constituency, against the anti-people policies being pursued by the TD government.

He said that he would revive glory of the Congress again and  fight against the ruling TD. Huge number of people attended the swearing-in programme of Mr Durgesh.
