Telugu Desam moves rights panel against CM K Chandrasekhar Rao
The TS government should pay Rs 10 lakh to the kin of each farmer
Hyderabad: The Telangana Telugu Desam organised a dharna along with the kin of some of the farmers, who had committed suicide, to protest against the TRS government’s failure to come to their rescue.
The TD also filed a petition with the State Human Rights Commission, holding the TRS government responsible for the farmers’ suicides and urged the Commission to treat these suicide cases as “murders by government” and book murder case against the Telangana State government.
Telangana TD president L. Ramana, TD floor leader in the Assembly E. Dayakar Rao, MLAs, including A. Revanth Reddy, former MLA M. Narasimhulu, who participated in the programme at Indira Park, blasted the Telangana government and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for complete apathy towards the farmers.
Mr Ramana said 165 farmers who committed suicide, belong to weaker sections. “We requested the State Human Rights Commission chairman to direct the police to book murder case against the government. The government’s lopsided policies led to agrarian crisis,” he added.
The Telangana TD has intensified its agitation against the TRS government after its MLAs were suspended from the Assembly.
It may be noted that the TD MLAs had been suspended from the House for disrupting the Session when they raised the issue of farmers’ suicide for discussion.
“The TS government should pay Rs 10 lakh to the kin of each farmer, who had committed suicide. It has not even paid a single rupee to the kin till date,” said MLA Revanth Reddy.
