THRISSUR: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has expelled Thiruvilwamala Congress mandalam president Goerge Pulinkala from the post on the charge of receiving funds from a bar hotel owner for his Janapaksha yatra.

On Tuesday, just before the yatra entered  Thrissur  from Palakkad,  reporters received a  copy of the receipt of the donation collected from a bar owner.

As per the receipt, Congress (I) Thiruvilwamala mandalam committee collected  Rs 5,000 from the bar-attached Oak Tree Hotel in Thiruvilwamala.

Mr Sudheeran  ordered a probe into the issue and asked Thrissur DCC president to submit a report within 12 hours.

By evening, when the  yatra reached Thrissur district, DCC president O. Abdurahmankutty submitted the  report stating that the mandalam committee had failed to protect the value of the yatra.

On the basis of the report,  Mr Sudheerean announced the expulsion of the entire mandalam committee at a public meeting held at Chelakkara, just 15 km away from Thiruvilwamala.
