Pallavi Kulkarni returns, break ke baad
Pallavi plays a mom to four kids in the show
Pallavi Kulkarni Nerurkar who featured in popular shows like Kehta Hai Dil and Vaidehi is back on TV after a long sabbatical. The actress features opposite Ronit Roy in Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar.
Pallavi plays a mom to four kids in the show. How open was she to the idea? “When Ekta Kapoor (of Balaji Telefilms) narrated the story to me, the way she speaks, she doesn’t even give you time to think. You feel like you should go ahead.
The treatment of the show is different, we use a lot of English or rather Hinglish. I was sold on the look,” she replies.
The actress adds that she didn’t miss work much during her break: “I did miss TV a bit during my break, watching myself on TV and being recognised by fans.
But I travelled a lot… recently I’ve been to Turkey, Spain, the US, all over Asia, we (her family members) also keep holidaying in Thailand and Maldives. I visited Italy two times in one year. I also had a baby boy last year, Kiaan.”
Pallavi says her family life is fulfilling. “When you love someone it should be unconditional. Expectations are the enemy. I don’t expect anything from my husband and I believe that makes him do even more for me… I met a child psychologist and asked her what age (of the child) is appropriate for a mother to get back to work.
The first two years were out of the question, although tough women, who have jobs, do it. Kiaan starts playschool soon, and I was advised this is the right time to do a show, as once he grows up, there will be school assignments and he will need my time.
I have my in-laws, parents and his nanny at home, so he doesn’t miss me, I miss him more. Before I signed the show I had asked for weekends off and fixed shoot hours.
I spend an hour-and-a-half with him before leaving for the sets. He gets confused seeing the promos of my show, he wonders how there are two mammas! Then seeing the hoardings of my show, he says, ‘That’s big mamma!’” Pallavi says with a laugh.
