Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to revoke the car security allowance given to MPs of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Wednesday signed the file regarding this.
Late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s government had introduced the car security allowance for MPs to facilitate their touring of the state.
Officials defended their decision by pointing out that no state government is giving such allowances to MPs. They also added that the state’s finances are not in good shape either.
One Telugu Desam MP met Mr Ramakrishnudu, urging him to continue with the allowance but his request was turned down.
