Winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly will be held in Hyderabad
The government had earlier considered holding the session in Guntur
Hyderabad: The winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly will be held in Hyderabad. The government had earlier considered holding the session in Guntur, but it is not feasible for various reasons.
AP finance and legislative affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Wednesday discussed this issue with government officials. Mr Krishnudu said if the Assembly session were to be held in Guntur there would be security and accommodation problems in addition to a financial burden on the government.
In Guntur, the government will have to find accommodation for around 1,000 people. Ministers and their staff, MLAs and MLCs and their PAs, government officials and their staff, and others, all put together, will account for 1,000 people.
The police will also face problems in providing security to the ministers, MLAs and MLCs. The winter session will last for at least one week and the government will have to pay travel and daily allowances to all government staff, putting strain on its financial resources.
Considering this, Mr Krishnudu said the winter session will be held in Hyderabad.
To a question he said to convene the winter session the government has time till January.
