Moscow: A collection of luxury cars including four Rolls-Royces with an estimated value of more than $3 million went up in flames at a private car park in central Moscow on Friday, Russian news agencies reported, citing police.

"Four Rolls-Royces, four Porsches and four Mercedes" were destroyed in the fire, a police source told RIA Novosti news agency.

Russian television showed flames roaring through the car park as firefighters aimed hoses at the blazing vehicles, reduced to heaps of charred metal in a few minutes.

The cars were all registered to a single owner, a local construction company, TASS news agency reported, with police estimating their value at more than 150 million rubles ($3.3 million, 4.14 million euros).

Police said they were checking the circumstances of the fire, which started around 6 am. "One of the theories is that it was an arson attack," reported Channel One television.
