New Delhi: Ever since the relocation of the airport to Shamshabad, the Telugu Desam Party has demanded that name of the domestic terminal be restored. The civil aviation ministry headed by Lok Sabha MP from Vizianagaram, Ashok Gajapathi Raju issued a notice to this regard.

“It has been decided to restore the name of the domestic terminal at Shamshabad Airport, Hyderabad as N.T. Rama Rao Domestic Terminal as it was earlier known at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad with immediate effect,” an official order of the civil aviation minister dated November 20 stated.

The order, which was signed by an undersecretary-level officer at the ministry, stated that it was being issued with the approval of the civil aviation minister.

Reacting to the development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said, “We proposed to name the domestic terminal at Hyderabad after NTR. We promised this during the elections and now it’s become a reality.”
